The Presidential Committee on the Victims of Terrorism Support Fund {VSF} at a meeting on the 24th of November 2014 took a decision to embark on relief action to be delivered before the year’s end. Accordingly, the Executive Director was tasked to immediately commence the process of implementing the decision. In line with the report of the Sub-Committee on Data, the CVSF (Committee for Victims Support Fund) directed that the relief intervention should focus on women, children and persons with medical challenges. The Program kicked off with the official launch of Victims Support Fund’s (VSF) intervention in Waru Community, behind Apo Mechanic Village in Abuja and will continue with distributions of materials in Adamawa, Borno and Gombe States.
We have held a number of meetings with some key stakeholders, in particular, (National Emergency Management Agency) NEMA and Nigerian Red Cross.
The distribution of materials will target households. The package for each household will consist the following:
- Rice 25kg
- Beans 25kg
- Vegetable Oil 10 litres
- Blanket 1pc
- Disposable Nappies (Pampers) 1pack
- Sanitary pads, 1 pack
Invitations have been sent to the DSS (Department of State Service) Police, Road Safety, Civil Defence, NEMA, The CVSF secretariat, the Acting Spokesperson, the Nigerian Red Cross Society, CAN (Christian Association of Nigeria), JNI (Jama’atu Nasril Islam), The FCT Emergency Management.
