Two weeks ago, I received a surprise meeting invitation from the Former Head of the UK Department of International Development (DFID) in Rwanda who’s now the British Deputy High Commissioner in Nigeria, Ms. Laure Beaufils at the High Commission Office in Victoria Island, Lagos Nigeria.

We discussed Nigeria’s National Security, the possible solutions to rising terrorism, the importance of Youth Participation in Politics, the empowerment and sensitization of active citizens and the potential of increasing Youth Leadership for Nigeria in the forthcoming 2019 Elections.

Ms. Beaufils is as compassionate, inspiring, humble and professional as they come. She’s also the first female British Deputy High Commissioner posted to Nigeria. #LetGirlsLead

She also pledged the British High Commission’s support for our upcoming Town Hall Meetings and our National Youth Debate Championship to be hosted by Rise Networks across University Campuses this June.
I got myself an outstanding new mentor.
